Dubbed Langkawi’s main vein, Pantai Cenang is a mixture of rowdy Las Vegas and mellow Seychelles. Featuring white-sand beaches lined with palm trees and fringed by clear blue waters, this section of Langkawi is especially popular with those looking to stay close to the island’s best-known restaurants and bars. In keeping with the holiday vibe, food outlets open late in the day and stay in business till the wee hours of the morning. Located 25km west of Kuah (Langkawi’s capital) Pantai Cenang is a prime location for hotels – budget and mid range accommodation options, with gorgeous sea views, dominate its landscape. However, you can also find a few high-end resorts like the Meritus Pelangi and Bon Ton, which are great for families and couples respectively.

One of the most popular five-star ventures in Langkawi, Meritus Pelangi is a rambling property with kampung-style houses set on its 30 acres of award-winning landscaped gardens. The traditional aesthetics are complemented with a wide range of modern luxuries including electric buggies to take you to your lodgings, three tennis courts, an on-site spa and six restaurants and bars. Situated towards the northern end of Pantai Cenang, the beach is practically at your doorstep but if you’d like to skip the saltwater treatment then head to one of the two swimming pools. Families are well catered for with a kids’ club and an animal farm, making it one of the few hotels in Langkawi really suitable for families with young children. It’s only a short walk out of the resort’s front doors to the best restaurants, bars and shopping venues in Langkawi – Tomato Nasi Kandar, one of the most popular eateries on the island, is right beside it and Laman Padi (a major Langkawi sightseeing attraction) is directly opposite it.
A thoroughly Southeast Asian-style property, Bon Ton is posh lodging with traditional aesthetics and all the bells and whistles of contemporary luxury. Featuring gorgeous views of the sea or the lagoon, the four-star Bon Ton has six exclusive 100-year-old stilt houses overlooking a coconut plantation and a beautiful swimming pool. Regal yet rustic, dark wood furnishings, organic accents, traditional artwork and sumptuous linen furnish each lodging unit and there’s a healthy breeze to keep the place cool each night. Popular Nam Restaurant – one of the best eateries in Langkawi – is part of the hotel. Read More...
They say a picture paints a thousand words and Casa Del Mar’s Mediterranean-inspired aesthetic appeal certainly does the trick. Featuring 34 uber-exclusive sea-facing rooms this sumptuous, Spanish villa-style venture goes the extra mile in ensuring guests are well taken care of. Service is always with a smile and directly opposite is Laman Padi – a major Langkawi sightseeing attraction. Additionally, there’s a lovely stretch of beach here, a cocktail bar and an on-site spa. One of the resort’s best perks is that they can arrange private candlelit dinners directly on the beach and clandestine picnics on one of Langkawi’s isolated forest-clad atolls. Read More...
