Pantai Tengah Restaurants & Dining

What and Where to Eat in Pantai Tengah

There are a number of seafood restaurants in the area you can check out including Unkaizen Japanese Restaurant, near Holiday Villa. Between the junctions to Pantai Cenang are some outlets that carry the ‘Sun’ prefix and these provide some good dining opportunities and refreshments. On the other hand, you should also visit the Lighthouse Restaurant that serves authentic Malay and Mediterranean cuisine along with a bar by the beach.

Hoya's Cafe

For breakfast, head for Hoya's Cafe. They have breakfast sets at RM3.90 and also several types of tempting Danish pastries at their air-conditioned outlet. A good choice during teatime, tourists from western countries will definitely feel at home here.

The Eagle's Nest

Close by to Hoya's Cafe is The Eagle's Nest, found north along the way to Pantai Cenang. A small restaurant with a garden concept, this is a great place to unwind after a day of fun and sightseeing. With an intimate feel, there are very few things that are more pleasant than watching the stars appearing in the darkening sky as you enjoy your meal.

Charlie Motel

A good place for a cheap meal is the Charlie Motel. Its restaurant overlooks the beach, which is good as the sight of the cool water would be a soothing balm should you find their Thai food a tad spicy. Serves Malaysian food also.

Oasis Beach Pub

Next to Charlie's Motel is the Oasis Beach Pub. No explanation is necessary as to what it serves - the usual wide range of cocktails and drinks prepared by the friendly bartender. It's a congenial watering hole and if you decide to have a bite, you will be pleasantly surprised by its more than average food.

White Sand Seafood Restaurant

White Sand Seafood Restaurant

If you are in the mood for some freshly cooked seafood, then go to the White Sand Seafood Restaurant, a Chinese restaurant with an extensive menu. Most Chinese seafood restaurants have their own specialities apart from the usual standard fare. But then again, most chefs like to play around with the ingredients and flavour of their dishes and so even standard fare will have a twist to them.

As its prices are reasonable, you can enjoy your meal without feeling a pinch in the pocket. You can always enquire about the cost of the dishes before you order, if it is not already stated in the menu. Its premises are located at the start of the road to Teluk Baru.

Resort Restaurants

If you prefer a quiet time and would like to stay in at your hotel, you could always pop into one of their in-house restaurants. Almost all resort hotels have more than one restaurant, each with a different theme. Many give preference to local dishes with a western twist in order to satisfy Western customers who would like to sample local food but find that it doesn't go down too well with them. Local customers who find that the usual local fare is rather mundane and bland on their jaded taste buds are also fond of trying out the newest twist to the dishes.

Most of these resort restaurants are more expensive than local establishments but then again, they provide a luxurious and comfortable environment for patrons to dine in. They are also quieter than the local coffee shops and hawker stalls; service is also supposed to be more prompt and professional. Most hotels also have room service if all that swimming and sunning have made you too tired and too warm to leave the cool comforts of your room.

Resort hotels also have many facilities to cater to the needs of their guests. Most, if not all have swimming pools, tennis courts, gyms as well as saunas. Some even offer guests the services of masseuses who are experts in massaging away the aches and relieve the tension of the stressed individual. A few places have their own in-house discotheques also.
