Dining & Restaurants in Kuah

Jalan Pandak Mayah, Shopping Malls, Seafood Restaurants

In Kuah Town, expect to find some traditional culinary delights. Because of its relatively large population and number of hotels in the area, there is a good range of restaurants and dining places to choose from. You can take your pick from fusion restaurants and fast food outlets in the shopping malls to open-air stalls and Chinese seafood places along the sea-front road.

Jalan Pandak Mayah

'Warungs’ are aplenty around this part of Kuah and these refer to portable stalls that serve Malay food, in particular light snacks and drinks such as ‘Teh Tarik’, a type of orange tea or ‘Kopi-O’, black coffee sweetened with sugar. There is a row of these Malay food stalls just opposite the road, and is a good place to try Malay food such as ‘Ikan Bakar’ or grilled fish, ‘Nasi Goreng’ or fried rice and ‘Lekor’ or fish crackers.

Shopping Malls

The shopping complexes are good places to look for international and local food in an air-conditioned setting. Head to places like the Langkawi Fair Shopping Mall for some good cafes and restaurants. In addition, the shopping complexes are great places to get fast food and the Jetty Point Mall even has a Starbucks where you can get a good dose of coffee.

Seafood Restaurants

Along the main Kuah road that travels along the coast, is where you can get a few wonderful Chinese seafood restaurants. This is where you can enjoy fresh harvest from the sea cooked in a tantalising array of styles and spices, Chinese style. The prices are also reasonably-priced and the taste is simply astonishing. Another place to look for Chinese seafood in Kuah is the Trimula area where most of the restaurants are perched beside the river.
