Nightlife & Dining in Padang Matsirat

Pantai Tengah, Pantai Cenang

Padang Matsirat does not have any proper nightlife as it’s located at a relatively-undeveloped beachside within the vicinity of the airport. In terms of restaurants in the area, most are budget places that don’t provide ambience or atmosphere. However, you do not have to worry as Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah, both the most happening beaches in Langkawi, are located close-by and it will only be a quick drive before you can get down to some partying or eating some great food.

Pantai Tengah

Pantai Tengah is located near Padang Matsirat, and it is here that you can find good restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars. In any of the restaurants here, you can listen to the sound of waves crashing on the seashore as you take a sip from a cocktail and listen to pleasant jazz tunes from a live band.

For food, there are a number of seafood restaurants in the area you can check out including Unkaizen Japanese Restaurant, which is near Holiday Villa. Between the junctions to Pantai Cenang are some outlets that carry the ‘Sun’ prefix and these provide some good dining opportunities and refreshments. On the other hand, you should also visit the Lighthouse Restaurant that serves authentic Malay and Mediterranean cuisine along with a bar by the beach.

Pantai Cenang

Pantai Cenang is the most vibrant spot in Langkawi during the night, and is also a short drive away from Padang Matsirat. For as far as the eye can see, the beach-side road of Pantai Cenang stretches with bistros, pubs, cafes, al-fresco restaurants and souvenir shops. Some of the bars are directly located on the beach, and it makes perfect sense to spend the evening with friends over beer while absorbing the sound of waves crashing on the shore and the glitter of a starry-lit sky.

For dining at night, there are just so many restaurants to choose from that feature international and local or even fusion cuisine. You get a wide variety that includes Japanese, Thai, Korean, Western and local favourites served in these mostly open-air restaurants by the beach. On peak periods, the streets along Pantai Cenang are just brimming with crowds of people during the night, as the bars and restaurants are filled with noisy cheer.
