Take is easy as you spend the day being chauffeured to some of Langkawi’s most fascinating sights in a private luxurious limousine and enjoy the sights and sounds of the legendary mystical isle as you visit its amazing attractions.
First you will be taken to the Field of Burnt Rice, the site where the Siamese army invaded Langkawi. The local chief ordered that all the rice in the land be cut and burnt to prevent it from falling into enemy hands. To this day you can purportedly still see the burnt rice on the ground during heavy rain-fall.
Next you will be taken to the Atma Alam Art Village – a treasure trove of Batik creations – the unique fabric painting and dyeing technique that is simply every collector’s dream and then you will be taken on a tour of Mahsuri’s Tomb. Mahsuri was a beautiful local maiden of olden days who was unjustly accused of adultery and unfairly condemned to death. In order to prove her innocence Mahsuri took a knife and stabbed herself. As her innocent blood spilled to the ground she laid a curse on Langkawi Island – with her dying breath – that it would be barren for 7 generations. However those 7 years are long over now as Langkawi thrives as one of Malaysia’s preeminent tropical getaways.
Subsequently you will visit the Prime Minister’s Museum before you get a chance to visit the Tanjung Rhu Beach with its virgin white sands before heading on over to ‘Pantai Pasir Hitam’ with its unique and intriguing almost-opaque black sand. At long last you will visit the Handicraft Center where glass crystals are made before a stopping in Kuah Town for a typical Chinese lunch and a bout of much-deserved shopping.
